District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, March 9 - 21, 2005

DAY 2: Friday, March 11th, 2005

Room 4 - Kristen, Dagnee, Amanda, Annette

The morning began with a traditional El Salvadorian breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, beans, cheese, and plantanes, which is somewhat like a fried banana. We then went to meet the embassador of Canada, Gwynenth Kutz. Who told us all about what we could do in order to continue helping the people of El Savador, while also helping ourselves.

Soon after our visit, we headed over to the El Salvador Museum of Anthropology. There we were given a guided tour and were informed about things such as their country´s history, where they originated from, agriculture, economy, and so on.

The group then made their way for lunch to a multi plaza mall, which is somewhat like an all american mall. After lunch we found ourselves at a small local art display-cafe-and gift shop. From there we were craving the El Elsalvador culture so we excitedly made our ways to the craft market, where we sure all spent a little more then we planned.

After the craft market we came back to the hotel and prepared ourselves for our night out. Katie Lumley, Cornwall´s exchange student generously invited us to watch the performance by her school, called Cariboo Circus. And amazing and original performance put on and organised by grads! As the night continued we were also invted to a papoussa party held by a local Rotarian, Carlos & Ruffie Barrera, their daughter Natalie was an exchange student in Petawawa. Hola Bob French! The rest of the night was filled with spanish music and dancing and wonderful food and company!

On behalf of all the Interacters we miss everyone back home, but we are having an excellent time together. See you all in approx. 8 days!
