DAY 4: Sunday, March 13th, 2005Hola! From Nina, Amber, and Laura. TODAY IS BEACH DAY!!! Our day started off at 7am this morning. First of all, we would like to tell everyone that today was our day off. On the way to the beach, we passed through many different social classes. We saw and experienced the economic structure. After an hour bus ride, we finally reached our destination to Senor Hidalgo’s (who is a Rotarian) beach house on Amatecampo Beach near Playa de Zunganera. When we got there, we were blown away. The Hidalgo’s mansion was beautiful. We went straight to the backyard and into the Pacific Ocean. The first thing we did was swim in the ocean. We couldn’t go in until the lifeguards came in because of the tide and the undertow. The sand was black, hot and filled with many insects. As gross as that sounds, it was actually still amazing. The ocean itself was extremely warm. Despite the enormous size, we still had a lot of fun riding the waves. After enjoying the ocean, we all came back to cool down and relax in the sun and the pool. A few of the girls and the guys from El Salvador decided to play a game of water polo. The guys thought the girls couldn’t win, but boy were they surprised! The day progressed with the group sleeping in the hammocks and playing soccer. During the day, we got to try coconut juice, pineapples and mangos. For lunch, we feasted on steak, baked potatoes, salad and cheese. For dessert, we had ice cream and enrrollados (pastry cone filled with icing). After a long, great day of fun, we headed out for dinner at the Multiplex. An hour was allotted to get dinner and shop. We came back to the hotel and sorted the rest of the suitcases that we received yesterday. We don’t want to go back home!!!....just joking! Adiós amigos! Nos vemos pronto.
