| District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, March 9 - 21, 2005 |
DAY 9: Friday, March 18th, 2005Hello once again from El Salvador from Amber, Nina, and Laura. Today we visited the coffee plantation called Proex Cafe. They held a short ceremony to invite us to the plantation. We were given a tour of the wet and dry run of the coffee process. They explained to us how the coffee beans were sorted and separated. We had the chance to rake the beans in order for them to dry. Five members of our group had the opportunity to taste test the processed coffee. Before returning to the plantation for lunch, we were invited to the village school sponsored by the coffee co-op. At the school, we handed out school bags to all the children. After lunch, we went to the Chalchuapa Orphanage for Girls. We played hand games and with the piñata with the girls. We visited the four girls, (Esmerelda;12, Teresa;14, Ingrid;14, Silvia;8) that Rotary sponsored. We had a fun time. We went to Santa Ana Cathedral after the orphanage. We also visited the Lago de Coatepeque Lake before we came back to the hotel to change and then go out for dinner at Lissett + Fausto Castro’s house. GOOD NIGHT! (we’re really tired, had to write this in a hurry)
