| District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, March 10 - 20, 2006 |
DAY 3: Sunday, March 12th, 2006The day began at 545 am as we came down to eat our breakfast. At 630am we all loaded on to the bus to head to bike and hike in the Parque ¨El Espino¨ This volcano hasn’t erupted for approximately 60 years. There was a very informative tour guide, whom showed us fissures releasing steam from the volcano. As we reached the top the view of San Salvador was amazing. We were shown an instrument which measured the volcanic activity. After the steep bike up the volcano, the quick ride down was greatly appreciated. Next, we were taken across a swinging bridge, where everyone had a lot of fun jumping and swinging on it. The elections were occurring today so much of El Salvador´s shops were closed and we had to eat at Mister Donut. After a fun bus ride full of music and singing we were able to finally rest for a few hours at the hotel. Many spent this time talking, showering, sleeping and hanging out. Next, we went to Multi Plaza, where everyone was given a few hours to shop. The mall was of much higher quality and newer than those seen at home, filled with waterfalls and a very creative layout and design. Finally it was time for the pupusa party at a fellow Rotarian’s house, Carlos! This time was spent interacting with Roteractors and Rotarians while dancing, eating and celebrating Jen and Carlos´ birthdays. The El Salvadorian’s were teaching us some of their cultural dances that everyone had fun attempting. It was a great night, and everyone is continuing to bond with one another and become an even closer group. Looking forward to a big day tomorrow! (Peace out) Room number three Jen, Becky, Chelsea, and Erin
