| District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, March 8 - 19, 2007 |
DAY 1: Thursday, March 8th, 2007Hola from El Salvador, We all made it in one piece. Everyone was ok, a little tired but ok… After we were dropped off in Cornwall, we spent numerous hours packing and repacking, and bonding. At 2:00 a.m we departed for Montreal where we anxiously awaited our flight. Soon, our wait was over and we boarded our flight to Miami. It was awesome! Most of us passed out on the plane, but the other few had a chance to look down on a clear, sunny day below. After safely arriving in Miami and eating a hearty lunch we boarded the plane to our final destination: San Salvador. As we approached the city, the views from above were breathtaking. One side looked upon lush green fields while the other gazed upon the mountainous volcanoes that covered the terrain. Once arriving in San Salvador we were greeted by friendly Roteractors, a Rotarian and a striking heat wave. During our drive from the airport to our hotel we stopped to enjoy a refreshing sip of coconut water, (directly from the coconut). We came back to the hotel with a very pleasant surprise. The hotel is fantastic, surrounded by lush trees, with a big pool, great food, and great rooms. After we got settled in and ate dinner we finished sorting the donated goods for their upcoming uses. We can all agree that we need to get some zzz’s so we will continue to update you on all of our many adventures tomorrow. Lots of love, hugs and kisses, Zoë, Myra, Chelsea and Laura (The girls from room 2) |
