District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, March 6 - 17, 2008

DAY 1: Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Hola from El Salvador,

Last night, we gathered at General Vanier Secondary School for packing. When all the donations were put out onto the tables, it took up nearly the whole cafeteria! At around eleven o'clock when all the packing was done - 36 bags of 50 lbs each - we headed to the teachers' lounge where we could get some shut eye on the couches.

Once the bus arrived, we all piled in with all the luggage. One hour through customs, and a half hour wait for the boarding of our flight to Miami, we were finally on our way! A three and a half hour flight to Miami and a one and a half hour flight from Miami and finally to El Salvador. We ate a great lunch at Ligne Marguerita and then headed to Hotel Sisimiles.

We got an hour to relax and then it was back to sorting all the donations. Later on, we enjoyed pizza and garlic bread and the wonderful company of the El Salvador Interact Club. The evening was great and now it is time for us to sleep since we have been up for 24+ hours!
