District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, March 6 - 17, 2008

DAY 4: Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Today was medical clinic day. We woke up in the morning to sort donations to bring there and soon we were on our way to the clinic. There were three stations when we arrived that we all alternated with. There was the pharmaceutical station where we counted pills and filled prescriptions. It got pretty crazy when a line formed. The donation room had a variety of clothes, shoes, and hygiene products. It was really wonderful to see the look on people's faces as they received their items. But the best station of all was entertaining the kids with coloring and soccer. The floor was wicked slippery and everyone kept falling.

For lunch, we went to a local restaurant where we ate a huge lunch that was delicious. It was just down the street from the clinic.

It was extremely hot, almost 40 degrees Celsius, but we still went to see ruins at Cihuatan. They had a temple and a ball court where a religious game was played. The losing team of this game was sacrificed. From the top of the pyramid there was an amazing view, which included a volcano and a mini dust twister. We gathered moro, a fruit that the ancient people used to make bowls. While we were at the ruins Jimmy and Leigha were both stung by vicious, evil, scary, black, disgusting bees. The ruins were pretty cool all together though.

We went to the Multiplaza, a mall in the city, and shopped for forty minutes. Then we had dinner at Fiesta Mexicana, where most of us had steak with cheese and guacamole on it, which was incredibly delicious. There was also an intense thumb war in which Leigha and Billy ended up in a stalemate.
