DAY 1: Friday, June 26th, 2009The day started with packing all 36 suitcases onto the bus at 2 am and driving to the Montreal airport. There we took about and hour and a half to get through baggage and security. We then got on the plane and most of us had a three hour nap. Once at Miami International we met up with Ligia and were only supposed to have a 2 hour wait for the next flight but nature decided otherwise and there was a thunderstorm so our plane did not get to land in Miami and landed in Fort Lauderdale. So we waited an extra 3 or 4 hours to board the plane and got to meet a guy called Joe who was on a television show called Real World Cancun. Once on the plane most of us drifted off to sleep again and woke up just in time to watch the plane land in El Salvador. We got through security quite fast and as we left the airport we hit a wall of humidity and we noticed that everyone had a hat or cloth to swat away little flies. Our Rotarians that met us were Lissett and Ovidio. We loaded all of the suitcases onto a truck and then got onto the bus, our bus driverīs name is Carlos. Though it was getting dark, the view was beautiful as we drove to the hotel in the capital, San Salvador. The hotel is very pretty and our rooms are quite spacious and they have air conditioning. For supper we had pizza and we were joined by Ovidioīs wife Patty and daughter Camilla. At supper some Roteractors also joined us and they were, Guilleremo, Lombardo, Otto and Alejandro. Then it was to bed so we could catch up on our sleep. |
