District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador, June 26 - July 7, 2009

DAY 4: Monday, June 29th, 2009

Although we were all woken up at the regular hour of 6:00am, we finally boarded the bus at around 7:30. Carlos drove us to the town of San José de Villanueva and we were divided into two separate groups. Half of the Interactors were sent to paint the inside of a science and computer lab at the school of Centro Escolar Catolico San José. With the help of Kathryn Bousquet from New Hampshire, half of the Interact team finished about three quarters of the classroom and will be heading back tomorrow to finish up.

The other half traveled to La Serena and worked on painting a kitchen for the school. Dagnee Goldenberg and Julia Schuster, two North American volunteers helped the team paint the inside and outside of the tiny hut. Also, Rafael Alberto Lino, an Interacter from El Salvador, joined us on his first work day. Finally, at 2:15pm, the other half of the group finished painted the kitchen.

After the long day of work, we all were rewarded with a night out. The group traveled to the Multi Plaza (a giant mall) for dinner and later went to KGB (Karaoke, Bar and Grill) for some Spanish karaoke. We were joined by the son of Hans Roeder and his friends for an amazing night.

We´re all looking forward to finishing our project at the school tomorrow and doing some sight seeing.
