Day 10: Sunday, July 5th, 2009Sunday, July 5th Today some woke a little earlier than others due to an earthquake just off the coast. The earthquake measured a 4.3 on the rictor scale and left our hotel in rubbles. Just kidding! All we felt were the tremors. We departed the hotel a little later than usual at around 10 am. Finally, we got to catch up on some much needed sleep. We made a quick stop at the market and then we were headed to Chalatenango. On the way we picked up Dr. David in Aguilares, who was our Rotarian guide for the day. First we stopped for lunch and ate fejites. We continued to our destination of Hogar del Adulto Mayor San Jose in Metayate, which was a nursing home where a group of rotarians had helped repair a well, providing the elders with clean water. After our visit we travelled on to a park with a couple of pools and waterslides. After some fun at the pools we made our way back to the hotel to shower and get changed for our farewell party at Lissettīs house. We enjoyed burgers and fries and got certificates for our work done in El Salvador. We proceeded to thank those who helped us on our mission with thank you cards and divided up our remaining donation money to those in need of our aid. We came back to our hotel to get a good nights sleep for our beach day tomorrow! |
