DAY 2: Saturday, March 13th, 2010Day 2 at Caluco The day started off with our fresh squeezed orange juice and grilled cheese sandwiches with french fries. At seven-thirty we headed off to Caluco to finish the work we started yesterday. We split into two groups; one group finished painting the inside of the building and the other started painting the outside. In addition to our group Hanns junior and his friends joined us with the painting of the building. Although we didn´t finish, great progress was made and the building already looks a hundred times better! During our time in Caluco we got to interact with a few children, named Stephanie, Jessica, Francisco and Louis at the worksite and donated some clothes and soccer equipment to them. As we left, the children followed the bus as far as they could go and it was hard to say good-bye. After a day of hard work, we were treated to a day of swimming at Hanns´ (soon to be president of the Rotary club) country house. Everyone that worked today joined us back at the house and we had an afternoon of fun and relaxation. We had a wonderful lunch and helped Christina (daughter of Hanns) celebrate her thirteenth birthday. After a fun afternoon we returned to the hotel to pack for tomorrow’s trip to a medical clinic in Aguilares. After packing the bags, we ate pizza with Hanns junior and all of his friends and this brought the day to an end. Jessica and Natalie |
